Rower Inistioge GAA Club held its 25th annual golf classic in New Ross Golf Club on Thursday. Golfers enjoyed beautiful weather on the course and the usual hospitality and fantastic food in the club house. The highlight of the evening was the presence of Kilkenny hurling legend Tommy Walsh and Derry football legend Joe Brolly.
Eddie Keher chatted to Joe Brolly who spoke eloquently about his childhood growing up in Derry and his love of gaelic games. With his trademark wit and honesty, Joe had the crowd enthralled.
Following Eddie's chat with Joe, Tommy Walsh took over the microphone to interview Joe. Ever the pro, Tommy had his homework done and had a clipboard laden down with questions. Unsurprisingly, with the conversation taking the most hilarious tangential turns, 30 minutes in and we were still on question one.
The Club wishes to thank Joe who travelled down from Belfast for the event and travelled back that night, and Tommy for travelling down to be with us.
The GAA Club also wishes to thank the Golf Classic Committee chaired by Eddie Keher for their incredible work over the past 25 years which has led to unprecedented development work within the parish. The six ever present members of the Golf Classic Committee (Eddie Keher, Michael Lyng, Gerry Lyng, Richard Tierney, Matt Galavan, and Pat Dunphy) were surprised by Club Chairman Mick Roche with a presentation to mark their contribution.
