Our minor panel put in a great performance this evening to beat St. Martins on a scoreline of 4-23 to 1-16 in the first round of the Roinn B Minor Hurling Championship. The level of performance was emphasised by the dramatic reversal of fortune since St. Martins won their league encounter by 13 points - 1-23 to 1-10 at the end of April. The team flew out of the blocks firing over 10 points in an opening 11 minute tour de force to lead 0-10 points to 0-2. Testament to the quality of the St. Martins team, they battled back to trail by 4 at half time, 0-17 to 1-10. St. Martins fought gallantly but never narrowed the gap below the 4 point half time differential. Once St. Martins resolve was broken, a free flowing Rower Inistioge found scores easier to come by and ran out winners on a scoreline of 4-23 to 1-16. Well done to the panel and management on a great performance. Notably, there was a very large local crowd at the match this evening, which no doubt benefitted the home team. It would be great to see an even bigger crowd at the quarter-final against Clara which takes place next Wednesday (10th September) at 6.30pm in Inistioge.
