A fantastic week for our juvenile teams got even better this evening when our U14's beat Bennettsbridge in a titanic battle in the Duggan Steel Roinn A U14 Championship Quarter Final.

Played in monsoon like conditions at times, it was never going to be a high scoring shootout, but rather a battle of wills. With the aid of the wind in the first half, we settled quicker than the home team and led by 3 points mid-way through the half, 0-5 to 0-2. That lead would be pushed out to 4 points by half time on an evening that was so bleak, the floodlights needed to assist, 0-8 to 0-4.

We looked to be totally in control after getting the better of the early second half exchanges and the lead was 6 by the 43rd minute, 0-12 to 0-6. Bennettsbridge struck for their first goal on 20 minutes and began to gain the upper hand, 0-12 to 1-6. With one minute to go, the home team could have been forgiven for thinking they had broken our boys resolve as they netted their second goal to nudge them into a 1 point lead.

With the crowd anxiously glancing at the clock, we equalised in the 61st minute, and whilst everyone was contemplating extra time, Kevin Mackey managed to wriggle free from three defenders to score a magnificent match wining point in the 63rd minute, 0-15 to 2-8.
