A Chairde,
We trust that you are enjoying a return to GAA and a gradual return to normality; it’s great to see all age groups back training. So far this year some groups have already played some challenge games and participated in football leagues.
Whilst we are grateful to be training again, we would like to remind members that we are still in the middle of a pandemic and to adhere to current guidelines in order for us to be able to continue playing this season at all levels.
The Executive Committee have been working very hard over the past number of months to ensure that return to play this year is enjoyable for all. This included the creation of six sub-committees, namely Administration, Bord na nOg, Finance/Fundraising, Communications, Grounds Keeping and Club Development, each of which has a Chairperson who sits on the Executive Committee. It's great to see so many members and indeed members of the Camogie and LGFA clubs getting involved with these. This gives the club more structure and defines roles and responsibilities. You will also have seen that we received a Sports Capital Grant of €85,000 which will be used against the development in The Rower. All juvenile coaches are now in place and all have completed their garda vetting, safeguarding courses and first aid courses where applicable over the past few weeks.
In terms of membership, as you will have seen fees have returned to pre covid levels. This decision was not taken lightly. Many of our costs have been ongoing for the past two years and we have little chance to fundraise. Everyone has been very considerate and embraced the challenges we are facing. We are also extremely grateful to those members whose subscription renewals that have already been paid.
We are facing a number of financial challenges in the coming months with bills coming in for upkeep of pitches and facilities, insurance, rates etc. Your membership fees are a huge part of the club’s income. We would ask all members to pay their fees asap so that the club can meet these bills. Fees can be paid online via Clubzap via this link. If prompted, you will need to select “Become a new member” rather than “Renew” as the packages have changed this year. For anyone having difficulty please contact secretary.rowerinistioge.kilkenny@gaa.ie and we can assist.
Le Meas,
The Rower Inistioge GAA Club Executive Committee
